Recipe of life

Walking along to work this morning past the Samoan Assembly of God, the Mosque, the Bombay Bazaar and Khyber Spices (just setting the scene) listening to music on my MP3 player, I wanted to share this song: Chances by Xavier Rudd. To all the nomads.

"At times in life
You'll connect with some
And some will have to move on
At times you'll feel
The need to fly
And fly though you may hurt someone

You were there
Your chances were clear
Choices were made in spite
Of times that were spent
Feelings were mixed
Amongst your support base
A heart was lost
But a heart found its place

This is a recipe of life
Made up of fragments of peoples
Peace and peoples vibes
Well its each now to their own
Well your heart will know"

This man has inspired me to learn the harmonica (lucky flatmates).

Humility rules

"The famous speech Colonel Tim Collins made on the eve of the second Gulf war still reads pretty well. "We are going to Iraq to liberate and not to conquer. We will not fly our flags in their country ... The only flag that will be flown in that ancient land is their own ... Iraq is steeped in history; it is the site of the Garden of Eden, of the Great Flood and the birthplace of Abraham. Tread lightly there." Two years on, however, the liberators/conquerors (delete according to taste) are still treading far from lightly - and Collins' distinguished army career is over, one of the more curious casualties of the war."
